Made with pride.
Made for you.
American made dress shirts should tell you something about the hands, materials, and decisions behind them. At Anton Alexander, we cut and sew our shirts in our Fort Wayne, Indiana studio using globally sourced fabrics.
From a structured collar to a flash of contrast inside the cuff, the details are personal. So is the care that goes into making them.

Pride in the process
Dress shirts made in the USA, with a story you can see
For us, American manufacturing is a daily practice: preparing fabric, building the garment, and paying attention to the small choices that shape how a shirt looks and wears. Keeping construction in our studio gives us direct involvement in those decisions and room to offer individual design details.
The workshop took shape in 2013, when Anton brought home Juki industrial sewing machines from a Chicago dealer and built an eight-by-four-foot cutting table. Those practical foundations still explain the approach: invest in the tools, understand the construction, and take pride in the finished shirt.
Construction and fabric origin are different. Anton Alexander shirts are constructed in the USA using internationally sourced fabrics. If you are comparing USA made dress shirts, look for a clear explanation of where the garment is made and where its materials come from.
Quality is in the details
What goes into a well-made dress shirt?
A handsome pattern is only the beginning. A collar needs support. Cuffs need shape. Thread, buttons, and finishing choices all contribute to the result. Here is a closer look at the construction details behind our shirts.

Collars and cuffs with purpose
Interfacing supplies the support you feel beneath the fabric. Our construction uses lighter support in plackets and collar bands, medium support in cuffs, and two layers of firm interfacing in the collar. Each area gets the structure its job requires.

Buttons that make a statement
Button choices help define a shirt’s character. Signature options include white or black buttons with metallic rings. French cuffs offer another way to express your style with cufflinks. Check the current product or custom builder for available finishes.

Thread as part of the design
Industrial sewing thread brings the pieces together, while thread color can quietly blend in or add a deliberate accent. It is a small choice with a visible effect, especially when you want your shirt’s finishing details to feel coordinated.

A little contrast. A lot of character.
Paisley, floral, plaid, and other accent fabrics can give a familiar shirt a distinctive finish. Keep the exterior understated or let the contrast show when you turn back a cuff. Fabric patterns and customization options change with availability.
Materials and workshop photographs are from the Anton Alexander archive; they illustrate our construction story rather than current inventory.
Choose fabric for the way you will actually wear the shirt, too. Consider its fiber content, feel, and care requirements alongside color and pattern. Our dress shirt fabric guide explains the available fabric families.
Small studio. Prompt production.
American craftsmanship, without a long wait
1 business day
Our normal processing and dispatch window. Most orders leave our Fort Wayne studio the next business day, Monday through Friday, excluding holidays.
Fast production means less time between placing your order and handing it to the carrier. It comes from keeping the work close to home and the ordering process focused.
Production time is separate from delivery time. Carrier transit starts after dispatch; your destination and the shipping service selected at checkout determine the rest. For a time-sensitive event or a special request, contact us before ordering. See our current shipping policy.

Your fit. Your point of view.
Custom dress shirts made in the USA
The best shirt for your wardrobe starts with how you want it to fit and where you plan to wear it. A clean business look, a bold evening shirt, and a wedding shirt may call for different fabrics and details.
Our custom dress shirt builder lets you explore available main fabrics, contrast accents, cuffs, buttons, thread, and fit adjustments. You can keep the choices restrained or create something unmistakably your own.
Before choosing a size, use the dress shirt measuring guide. Then compare the silhouettes in our fit guide and Fitted versus Modern Fit comparison. A few careful measurements are more useful than guessing from a shirt label.
Start with the essentials: fit and measurements first, fabric second, then the accents you will enjoy wearing. Our custom dress shirt guide walks through the choices.
What to check before ordering American made dress shirts
- Know the construction location. Look for a specific answer about where the garment is cut and sewn, along with an explanation of fabric sourcing.
- Check the fabric details. Fiber content and care instructions help you choose for comfort, maintenance, and the occasion.
- Confirm your fit. Review measurements and available adjustments before submitting a custom order.
- Separate production from shipping. Normal next-business-day dispatch does not mean next-business-day delivery.
- Read the return terms. Eligible standard-size, non-custom shirts have a 30-day return or exchange window. Custom-fit and custom-designed shirts have different terms; review the return policy before ordering.
Before you choose
American made dress shirts: common questions
Where are Anton Alexander dress shirts made?
They are cut and sewn in our Fort Wayne, Indiana studio. We use globally sourced fabrics, so USA construction describes where we make the garment rather than the origin of every material.
How quickly will my shirt be produced and shipped?
Most orders are processed and dispatched the next business day, Monday through Friday, excluding holidays. Shipping transit is additional and depends on your location and the service selected at checkout. Check with us before ordering for an urgent deadline or special request.
Can I customize the fit and design?
Yes. Available options include fabric, contrast accents, cuff style, buttons, thread, and fit adjustments. Visit the custom builder to see the choices currently offered, and review your measurements before ordering.
Are the fabrics also made in the USA?
Our fabrics are internationally sourced. We are clear about the distinction: the shirts are constructed in the USA, while fabric origin varies. See the fabric guide and individual product information for the material details that matter to your purchase.
Is a button-up dress shirt the same as a button-down shirt?
A button-up shirt closes with buttons down the front. A button-down collar has small buttons fastening its collar points to the shirt. If you are searching for American made button down shirts, check the actual collar style; the terms do not always describe the same feature.
Can I return a custom shirt?
Custom-fit and custom-designed shirts are excluded from standard returns and exchanges. Eligible standard-size, non-custom shirts may be returned or exchanged within 30 days in unworn, original condition. Contact us promptly about a defect or an order that does not match the specifications, and read the full return policy for details.
