There are lots of reasons why we should support Ukraine as a society, but this war hits home right here at Anton Alexander shirting company. The owner of the company, Anton, immigrated to United States in 1991 at the age of 5. He was born and raised in Kyiv, Ukraine.
His family was desperate to get out primarily due to Chernobyl incident that happened only 100 miles north 3 months before he was born. With some health scares at birth, his family wanted to do whatever it took to come to the USA. It took them almost 5 years to finally make it and they have been living in the midwest ever since.
Anton is always talking about how lucky he is to have the opportunity to start a company on his own. He is very grateful to be able to do so. When war broke out on Ukraine in Feb 2022, it hit home for him because it was quite literally his home! Some of his family is still in Kyiv today. He was very saddened to see many innocent people getting killed or being forced to flee from their homes. Many small businesses will not survive and many people may not have electricity or heat for the weeks to come. We cannot do much here in the USA so he decided to turn to TikTok and Youtube with a video of him personally making a custom Ukrainian flag themed dress shirt to offer for sale on Anton Alexander website. When finished, the shirt was handmade in the USA with Ukrainian heritage and love (since he himself was from Ukraine). For every shirt sold, Anton Alexander will donate $20 to a charity in Ukraine to help the people get back on their feet, where ever they may end up. Every little bit helps and it should be our duty to try to help even in a small way when bad things happen.
